Hotflush Warehouse Party
Saturday 3rd November – 10pm to 6am – Shoreditch Warehouse Party
LWE are excited to present the first ever UK label night of Hotflush Recordings as well as the debut of the full Scuba live show. This will be Scuba’s only London performance this year.
The Hotflush Recordings label, under the stewardship of label boss Scuba (Paul Rose), is one of the most important new figureheads of underground electronic music to emerge in recent years, releasing everything from techno (Sigha, George FitzGerald etc) to some of the most experimental and important music of the past few years by artists such as Joy Orbison, Untold, Mount Kimbie, and Sepalcure.
SCUBA
Even though he no longer lives in the country, it’s hard to imagine what London’s musical landscape would look like without the influence of Scuba. In 2007 Rose made the move from London to electronic mecca Berlin resulting in an incredible rise to prominence highlighted by him holding a residency at Berlin’s legendary techno temple Berghain and occupying the #25 spot in the readership-voted Resident Advisor Top DJ poll for 2010 and 2011.

If I tried to write about every great festival from Summer 2012, it’d be 2013 already and I wouldn’t have finished! So here are a few of the best, to get those memories flowing….
The 10th edition of Primavera Sound in Barcelona confirmed its success as an underground, industrial alternative to more mainstream style festivals. Primaveral invades Barcelona for most of May, with the showpiece event at the Forum attracting 40,000 to its awesome avant-garde, industrial setting. Headliners The Cure were excellent – the test of time has left its mark on Smith’s voice, but they still have a formidable stage presence – and acts such as Scuba, M83, Beach House and Godflesh helped create Primavera’s unique atmosphere.
I know, I know – Kazantip Republic is not a festival, but there are not enough music republics around to do a top 5! 20 years on from its small-scale beginning – Kazantip started out as a windsurfing competition – this party nation has established itself on the world stage as a safe haven for tens of thousands of music-loving refugees from Europe and further afield. I cannot wait to see what it will become in the next 20 years!
Croatia continued to build on its growing reputation for jam-packed summers of music. One of a mass of summer festivals being held across the country, INmusic stands out as Croatia’s largest open-air event. The beautiful setting of an island on Lake Jarun has hosted 25,000 people each year since 2005, which, along with a 2012 line-up including The Cranberries and Franz Ferdinand, makes INmusic almost unbeatable for alternative, rock and pop lovers.
Hop Farm sells itself as a unique UK festival with ‘no sponsorship’ and ‘no branding.’ While I’m not sure about the second of these claims (‘Hop Farm’ is, in itself, a brand), I really agree that the festival as a whole feels unlike pretty much anything else around. It can attract big names like Bob Dylan (for his only UK show in 2012) but also gives great space for new acts. British performers in particular are well represented, and the Buskers’ Boulevard adds to the personal and intimate feel of the whole event.
Monegros Desert Festival – not much needs to be said about the biggest rave in Spain. Every year it promises so much, and every year it delivers. The Prodigy produced a stellar performance, and Richie Hawtin’s closing set is being hailed as his best of the Summer season – which maybe helps to make up for Bloc Festival being shut down shortly after his set!
(Just kidding!)
In the middle of the Kent countryside there lies a woods with a magical feel to it. On the night of August 10th 2012 these woods welcome guests to a night they will never forget.
Jack’s is a boutique festival all about combining local and rising talent with some of the worlds best artists. There will be live music all day until dusk and then DJ’s into the early hours of the morning.
Kick back and relax in our Shisha Garden tent, recline in our sun soaked paddocks, listen to some live music whilst sipping on some locally brewed cider, or just wait for the sun to go down.
Jack’s is all about intimate vibes, good music and local love. When inhabiting such b-e-a-utiful surroundings it would only be right to give something back. So this year we are donating £1 from every ticket we sell to ‘Hospice in the Weald’ a local charity close to our hearts.
For the chance to win 4 VIP tickets to the festival – all you need to do is answer the following question and email it to Rob at rob@jukexpr.co.uk – The winner will be picked totally at random.

Bank holiday events are a ritual for the Brum big hitters Below. this time they have drafted in a trio of amazing artists all hailing on the amazing imprint Desolat.
Martin Buttrich needs no introduction, but we will give him one. The label owner has been influential in the labels rise to the top with his live sets being idolised and even compared to that of Laurent Garnier. His live sets have inspired such performers as Maceo Plex amongst others.
tINI has also become a stalwart on the German label, 2012 has been a great year for her so far. Hector has also being doing great things recently at HD Festival in Essex and Sonar, he is always a welcomed guest to The Rainbow.
