2020 Vision
Saturday 20th October

This autumn sees 20:20 Vision return to their home turf with a stunning selection of artists true to form.

Topping the bill and performing in room 1 is the lady of the moment Maya Jane Coles. The last 18 months have seen Maya blow everyone away with her sublime house music productions, live band She Is Danger and her dub sided project Nocturnal Sunshine. Intuitive 2020Vison label founder Ralph Lawson of BacktoBasics, 2020Soundsystem and Fabric 33 fame also heads up the show, alongside Simon Baker who recently released his debut long player on the label, and label resident Danny Raper.

Room 2 brings together the finest disco band in the business in Crazy P (DJ set), alongside 2020 new signings and Hot Creations favourites PBR Streetgang. Guy Gerber drafts in his Supplement Facts label to a Secret London location…

Secret East London location

************************************

On October 27th CNL Events present a very special London first – a Supplemental Facts label showcase headed by the boss Guy Gerber, with crazy French house trio dOP and many more yet to be announced. So too is the venue to be announced in the weeks leading up to this event.

Guy Gerber’s Supplemental Facts seems to have had something of a renaissance recently. In the early days defined by Gerber’s own prog-tech-house aesthetic, an influx of new names like Ryan Crosson, Guti, Lee Curtiss and dOP have recently re-aligned it with a deeper, more organic template. The label recently released Heartbeats, a compilation that collects label classics and choice future offerings together, with the aforementioned names as well as Seuil and No Regular Play all contributing. Gerber himself has recently mixed it up for the illustrious fabric series and continues to DJ around the world from WMC to Pacha to Watergate.

Damian Van de Sande, Clement Zemstov, Jonathan Ille are dOP – the fun French threesome who have crafted their own drunken house sound playing live across the world. Their Greatest Hits album on Circus Company was a huge success, and their jazzy, late night and instrument rich house sounds have also come on labels like Life & Death and Supplemental Facts. So too have they turned in one of the best mix CDs of recent years for Watergate.

Chaim is a true stand out artist in today’s fast paced electronic world. After the first wave of stunning releases for labels like Supplement Facts, Cocoon and MBF, for over a year now Chaim has worked exclusively with the Berlin based BPitch Control imprint. His acclaimed output, like his debut album ‘Alive’ in spring 2011, has proven his powerful, individual productions to be some of the highest quality club tracks around

It takes a brave man to say their aim when DJing is “to teach stupid people what good music is.”   Berlin based New Yorker Bill Patrick is by no means a brave man (save when he’s in the DJ booth) but he does know what good music is.  He did right back at the age of 7.  He doesn’t play hits, though, he doesn’t whimper in the face of zeitgeists, but he does read rooms and fuck with people’s head. He does it at places like Rex Club, fabric and DC: 10, and has recently been installed as resident in London for the Return to The Future parties held in various secret warehouses around the English capital.

So, keep your eye out for news of the raw London warehouse that will be used as a venue and get your tickets sharpish…

Eddie talks Mint Festival…

Originally picked out as a superstar DJ by Mixmag back in 2003, Eddie Halliwell is never out of the top 20 spaces in the DJ Mag annual DJ poll.  He has had his own show on Radio 1 and has carried the electronic baton with pride to clubs all over the world.  He also has his own syndicated radio show and is as technically gifted on the decks as anyone in his genre. Having just finished DJ residencies in Croatia and Ibiza, so too has he recently started producing for the first time, as we found out ahead of him playing Mint Festival on September 29th at Lotherton Hall with people like Seth Troxler, Wolf & Lamb, Surgeon, Adam Beyer and more all playing.
Only fairly recently did you produce and release your first track, why is that?
Well I have always been into it, but when I first starting DJ-ing, producing and playing were two separate entities and I never really had the time. Now with the traveling I do I can now produce just on my laptop through Ableton. I have always made loops and drum codes but never really had the time to piece it all together until now.
You have done a lot of remixes, what is the main difference between the two for you?

The remixes tend to be quicker, as I get the stems and work around those. Obviously when I get a track I genuinely have to love it and have the inspiration to work on something that uses the parts. I’ve been really pleased with my previous efforts.

Can you tell us about your phone app?

Yes well basically it’s just so the fans can see my tour dates and if I’m coming to a city near them, you can also stream my radio show and download some of the music on there too.

Are you a massive follower of social media, do you think it’s massively important now?

Totally, everyone today, especially the younger generation, use social media outlets so it’s important that you keep up to date with them, it’s really critical that you connect with your fans and it’s really enjoyable to give something back.
You will play the hugely anticipated Mint Festival this week, are you excited to play the show?

Yes of course – I have played at Lotherton Hall before for Gatecrasher Summer Sound System, which I loved. Leeds itself always has a great crowd and the majority are really into their music, the line up itself is really good. I’ll be playing for the Bitch tent with Michael Woods which will great but I’m looking forward to seeing Jamie Jones and Reboot who are doing great things at the minute.
Do you prefer festivals to club gigs?
Yes definitely especially when it’s hot. I know sometimes this isn’t always the case in the UK but occasionally that makes the audience go for it more. I have had some great festivals out in Brazil and South America in general where the sun has been shining. Amazing.
Onto your ED-IT project, how has that developed since you started it?
We haven’t really done it much this year the team and I have been so busy on tour, but it has provided an exclusive platform for me to do something different with the visuals integrated with special effects and strobes. The equipment and technology keeps improving each time so the project looks slicker every time.
Finally what does the winter have in store?

Well I have just finished off residencies in Ibiza and Croatia which were great this summer, so now I’ll be back on tour in Australia for a couple of weeks then onto South America which will be great too.

Greg Wilson, PBR Streetgang and The Revenge all to play

Saturday 29th September 2012
12 midday – 1am
Lotherton Hall, Leeds

It has been announced that Mint Festival – taking place on Saturday 29th September 2012, 12 midday – 1am, at Lotherton Hall, Leeds – are adding a fifth stage to proceedings.

Hosted by legendary local night Asylum, it will bring a disco flavour to the other tents on offer with PBR Street Gang, Greg Wilson, The Revenge, Flux & Teknicolor residents and many more all playing.

This is on top of the System & Flux tent (two Leeds promotions who have great reps in the city for clued-up and on-point bookings) with the likes of Wolf & Lamb, Soul Clap, Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler, the new in-house techno night from Mint Club itself aka Black Light with Surgeon, Ben Klock and Adam Beyer, local house crew Bitch and bass botherers Jungle Jam and Bigger Than Barry who offer you sets from Joker, Marky and many more.

The Asylum & Friends arena, then, as mentioned, will add some disco dazzle with headline sets from local duo PBR Streetgang who release on labels like 2020, Hot Creations and Futureboogie.  They will be joined by funk soul brother Greg Wilson who never fails to weaves classic sounds into mouth-watering tapestries, plus The Revenge who is single handedly – arguably – responsible for the disco revival of recent years. His spangled, go slow productions have been heard on dancefloors everywhere whilst his own sets are just as magical.  Flux & Teknicolour meanwhile, do regular parties in Leeds with a combination of tech house stars and breakthrough talents all playing, so expect much of the same in this tent.

Located just 13 miles from Leeds City Centre, Lotherton Hall is one of the UK’s leading boutique festival sites having previously hostedhuge dance and University events in its impressive Edwardian grounds. Importantly, each stage will be covered so the weather can’t get in the way of the fun.

Lee Foss arrives at the new Warehouse, London…

COMPETITION TIME - for two tickets to see Lee Foss at Warehouse, London on September 22nd...
Question at bottom.
SEPTEMBER  22nd
LEE FOSS, PROJECT FM
Lee Foss and Jamie Jones’ label, Hot Creations, has been at the forefront of a new musical movement. No one had put slow, sexy, disco infused, 80s slanted house with creamy r&b vocals and expected it to work before – but it does. The label’s has released some of the biggest tracks of recent years, often from Foss who plays tonight as he does at WMC, in Ibiza, Sonar, everywhere on a regular basis. There are few more in demand DJs out there than this one.  Project FM also plays.
Lee Foss comes from which country?
