It all started last winter when, looking for new experimental sounds, one half of DC10’s System of Survival, Bingo began creating podcasts with a slightly different style, purely for friends and family. Now reaching its tenth instalment, SuRFBiT’s signature blend of 80′s synth pop, classic techno and iconic 90’s house anthems, all with a healthy injection of funk disco are the perfect sound for a modern dance-floor or nulounge.
Reminiscent of the NYC after-hours scene of the early 1990′s, SuRFBiT’s laidback groove is the soundtrack to a modern generation. With a distinctive nod towards the past, yet feet tapping firmly on the sounds of the future, music connoisseurs and genuine house-heads were instantly hooked. The demand for mixes has led to the project now being launched live, with Surfbit himself bringing his cool sound to venues around the world. Sampling the likes of Marshall Jefferson, Art Of Noise and Orbital alongside the characteristic sounds of Blaxploitation or Miles Davies, Surfbit means just that: surfing for sounds different from your run of the mill 4/4 beat.
A philosophy that Bingo has taken to heart, a Surfbit set traverses the waves with a soundtrack and ride as smooth as its protagonist. Whilst continuing to release with Alex Caprienti under the System of Survival moniker, Bingo will be bringing the distinctive sounds of Surfbit productions to home label IANVS71, or digitally on sister company FVENTI.
It’s no secret, the underground dance music world has embraced the emergence of nu-disco, and Surfbit is one of the heavyweights supporting it. ‘Phase’ or not, we for one shall be keeping a very close eye on SuRFBiT.
